Katie grew up in a small town in Iowa. She became involved in her school's musicals in junior high and every year fell more in love with theatre. Not only did she perform, she ran lights, did lots of make up, and helped build and paint sets. This love eventually led her to Coe College where she would graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Arts with a Tech and Design emphasis. While at Coe, Katie was involved in every show possible, often working multiple shows at once. She was active in the college's theatre club and held office for multiple semesters. She also helped bring back the college's chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, a theatre honor society, and was the Membership Coordinator. Katie was awarded the Dows Service Award for leadership and dedication to the arts.

Since graduating, Katie has continued to be active in theatre. She started working with Rich Heritage of Cedar Rapids Theatre shortly after graduating and has continued to design for the company. Katie toured with VStar Entertainment during 2017 and continued to design for RHCR Theatre while on the road. She's also worked with Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, IA and Theatre Cedar Rapids in Cedar Rapids, IA. She is currently serving as a lighting technician and designer and supervisor for UpLight Technologies on the Varsity All Star 2018-2019 tour.

Katie's skills include carpentry, stage management, stage and special effects make up, set design, lighting design, sewing, drafting, painting, and multi-media art. She is also a third degree black belt instructor certified through the UTA, IMAG, and ITF and is certified to referee internationally.
